The story of bObles began in Denmark in 2006 when architect Bolette Blædel, then on maternity leave, observed the limited range of children’s furniture. She noticed how scaled-down adult furniture failed to meet kids’ real needs for movement and play.

Driven by this insight, Bolette joined forces with her sister, textile designer Louise Blædel, blending architectural precision with an artistic sense of form and colour. Together, they founded bObles to create furniture that encourages children to rock, roll, balance and build.

Central to their approach is the choice of materials: bObles uses high-quality EVA foam to ensure durability, safety and comfort during play, combining these material demands with an aesthetic that fits modern homes.

bObles stands as a child-development-focused brand rooted in Scandinavian design, offering “tumbling furniture” that supports growth through play while adding style and function to everyday family life.

From the very beginning in 2006, bObles has had a clear mission: to find a material that invites play while being completely safe for children. We wanted to create something that could embrace both spontaneous, energetic play and quieter moments – and something that would stand the test of time. After exploring a variety of options, we found our answer in EVA foam – a material that not only met our requirements but has proven to be ideal for children’s development, play, and learning.
